Information
In addition to absorbing food and excreting indigestible leftovers, our intestines are also an important part of our immune system. Around 80% of the immune cells are located within our intestines. There is a lifelong and intense symbiosis between our organism and its bacterial inhabitants. However, this can be harmed by poor nutrition, constant stress, lack of sleep, and the intake of medication. As a result, the natural balance between “good” and “bad” intestinal bacteria can get out of control. Ultimately, our intestinal barrier and intestinal mucosa become permeable to toxins, allergens, and foreign germs – and the immune defence is weakened.
Certain intestinal bacteria (i.e., bifidobacteria and lactobacilli) produce butyrate (a.k.a. butyric acid, a short-chain fatty acid) in the large intestines and is the main source of energy for our intestinal epithelium. If it is well supplied, it can perform its many functions. These include the targeted absorption of nutrients and the defence against toxins and pathogens. If butyric acid levels drop, changes occur in the intestinal mucosa – and the intestinal barrier is also weakened.
Function
OMNi-LOGiC® IMMUNE combines valuable fibre with important vitamins and minerals for the intestine and immune system for special anaerobic intestinal symbionts:
- Resistant starch stimulates fermentation and, thus, stimulates the production of short-chain fatty acids (such as butyrate) for more energy by the important bifidobacteria and lactobacilli. In addition, the increase in biomass (amount of stool) ensures improved transportation through the intestines.
- Acacia fibre extract is a readily soluble fibre made from the dried sap of the acacia tree. The fibres from acacia gum are also well tolerated.
- Vitamin B3 helps maintain the normal function of mucous membranes (e.g., the intestinal mucosa).
- Calcium plays an important role in the normal function of digestive enzymes.
- Zinc supports the protection of cells from oxidative stress and contributes as well as
- Vitamin D to the normal functioning of the immune system.
Interesting facts
Probiotics and prebiotics
Through the supply of viable symbionts (= probiotics), the amount of commensal intestinal bacteria increases. These bacterial species are either aerobic or facultative anaerobic and need oxygen for their metabolism.
However, not all bacterial strains can be easily taken in form of dietary supplements – a big part of our intestinal bacteria are strictly anaerobic and cannot be cultivated or stored outside the body. As soon as they encounter oxygen, they die. This is the main reason why the anaerobic bacteria need prebiotics as “food”. Once a perfect surrounding has been created, the commensal intestinal bacteria can multiply and perform in the best way possible.
Recommended use
3 times daily, stir 1 level measuring spoon of OMNi-LOGiC® IMMUNE (= 5 g) into a glass of water/juice, etc. (approx. 200 mL), and drink at once (no activation time necessary).
Our tip: Start with 1/2 measuring spoon once per day for 3 days. Then, gradually increase the daily amount up to the recommended daily dose of 1 measuring spoon 3 times per day over a period of approximately 1 week.
This allows your good gut bacteria to multiply appropriately.
